The Indian flag is seen on top of buildings and houses. Most channels depict programmes that feature India’s struggle for Independence. Print and other online media release special supplements on this day. The day is packed with drills, cultural programmes and outings. The sky becomes an ocean of tri-coloured kites, with people taking to the roofs and open spaces to fly kites.
Children participate in this day by wearing tri-coloured clothes with Indian slogans or patriotic messages. Almost every person is seen donning a wristband, flag pin, sticker or badge in honour of this day.
