3. The Iconic Red Fort Comes Into The Limelight
Given everything that the people strove for, losing many lives in the bargain, this day is marked by an official celebration that takes place wherein the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. This is followed by an official 21-gun salute and an address by the Prime Minister to his fellow citizens. The National Anthem is then proudly sung by every Indian, reverberating through the monumental structure and across the country.
This day is full of pomp and joy. There is a march past by the armed forces, a parade by the military forces. Later, a cultural programme highlighting India’s cultural heritage and traditions is put up.
