Do not let the above quote undermine how essential an engineer is, especially in today’s world. Engineers shape and form the very constructs of the technological world in which we live in and should therefore be considered an integral part of society. So it does not come as a surprise when a college situated in Patnagar, India celebrates every year, on 15 September, Engineer’s Day by honouring one of its most decorated engineer – Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya – a man whose achievements have greatly influenced a generation to follow, in contemporary India.

The day serves as a tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a name that serves an almost omnipotent presence in the hearts of all engineers in India. This man, with all his accomplishments in the field, would greatly influence the generation and prove to them that the saying ‘if it can be designed, it can definitely be made’ holds true and should be the spiritual motto of engineers all around.
