If there is ever a contest regarding which actor has the maximum number of controversy to his or her name, Salman Khan will win the contest hands down! He has been associated with endless number of rumors and controversies involving his girlfriends, films and his activities at numerous places.
He stirred the hornet’s nest when he had said that Yakub Memon, the 1993 serial blast accused should not be hanged. He later apologized for his comments to pacify the outrage in various circles.
In 2014, he along with prominent Bollywood actors like Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit drew flak for performing at Saifai Mahotsav of Akhilesh Yadav. The protesters pointed out when the stars were dancing and making merry, hungry children perished in Muzaffarnagar relief camps. His stint with reality show BIgg Boss usually is a hit with viewers. But the seventh season was mired in controversies.
His cold war with Shah Rukh Khan has been the topic of media gossips and speculations for a long time. However, both the actors have made endeavors to douse the rumors. Salman also hogged media attention and got mired in controversy over his over the top behavior with some of his lady loves, including ex-miss world and actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The two big controversies surrounding the actor are still raging in courtrooms. In 2002, he was accused of running down pavement dwellers and killing one person in a drunken state. After prolonged courtroom battles and near imprisonment the verdict was largely in his favor. The case against him and several co-stars from the film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ for hunting Black buck deer and chinkara while shooting is dragging on over a decade.
