4. The Mukherjee Clan – Making Waves Since 1940
The Mukherjee name brings to mind the beautiful Kajol, her sister Tanisha and Rani Mukherjee. However, this family has a long history of Bollywood running in their blood. The encounter of the Mukherjee clan with the film industry began with Shashadhar Mukherjee, the founder of Filmistan Studios. All of his five sons followed him into the industry. The writer-cum-producer and director Shomu Mukherjee married Tanuja, who was the sister of one of the most celebrated actresses of Bollywood, Nutan. This alliance gave the family, even greater pull in the industry. Tanuja’s daughters, Kajol and Tanisha, have gone on to make names for themselves in the movie business. Today, Kajol is married to Ajay Devgn and a couple of kids. Her cousin, Rani Mukherjee has also left her mark on Bollywood, making her a well-sought out actress of today.
