The Birth of A Savior
The story of the birth of Krishna is as intriguing as it gets. It goes that Mother Earth was appalled by the pitiful state of sins being committed on her surface. She asked Brahma, the God of Gods, for his help. The Lord, in turn, went to Lord Vishnu, who vowed to intervene in the form of a human and rid the world of any and all existing evil.
At the time, in the Kingdom of Mathura, King Ugrasen was imprisoned by his own son, Kansa, who would declare himself the new ruling king. Through divine prophecy, it was proclaimed that the 8th son of Devki, the brother of Kansa, would kill the self proclaimed king. This would scare the daylights out of Kansa who would prove just how merciless he is by killing 6 of the 8 infants born to his brother, the 7th being saved only by divine intervention.
And, at the strike of the midnight chime, the world would see the birth of Lord Krishna, adorned with jewels and wearing a crown, his presence illuminating and dousing everything around him in majestic aura and beauty. Though Devki would attempt to save his child, he would be imprisoned for doing so. And just as Kansa raised his hands to deal the fatal blow to end the infant, Krishna would slip right out of his grasp and flew towards the sky, announcing to the world that the savior and destroyer of evil has arrived.
