3. Ghadames, Libya
The name Ghadames originated from the ancient Berber tribe, Tidamensi. This tribe is originally from Fezzan. Essentially an Oasis town, located in southwestern Libya, lies Ghadames. The town is surrounded by a city wall and has a population of about 10,000. The highest temperature recorded is 131 degrees F. Ghadames has a desert climate which, needless to say, is very hot. The summers are long and the average temperature is around 105.8 degrees F. The hottest month of the year happens to be July. Winters are rather warm and short. The average annual precipitation is little over 33 mm.
