9. Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon was born into a noble family on the island of Corsica and received formal military education, graduating as an artillery officer. Napoleon saw a meteoric rise to power during the tumultuous years of the French Revolution. He rose to power through the chaos of the conflicts between Monarchist and Republican factions in France.
