2. Arunima Sinha – Gutsy Young Girl Who Reached The Top Of The World
A number of Indians may have climbed the Mount Everest, but Arunima Sinha achieved the feat minus one leg! This sounds incredible, but this gutsy lady braved all odds to become a first Indian amputee taming the peak. She was a talented national level volleyball player and lost one leg after being pushed from a running train by some hoodlums in 2011. The doctors amputated one leg beneath the knee to save her life. She was given a prosthetic leg after being treated for 4 months at the AIIMS. She climbed Mount Everest and also conquered 4 more peaks latter including Kilimanjaro in Africa and Elbrus in Europe. She conquered Mount Everest on May 21, 2013. Her book, Born again on the mountain won laurels after publication in 2014. In 2015, this gutsy lady was honored with Padma Shri.
