2. Christian Medical College, Vellore
Also known as CMC, Vellore, the institute was established in 1900. The college has many distinctions to its credit. It conducted the first reconstructive surgery for leprosy in the world. The institute also had India’s first nursing college. It offers many different courses including MBBS and 66 post graduate diploma and degrees. The college also conducts 35 allied Health Science course and super specialty courses such as DM and MCh. CMC enrolls about 2000 students every year in various courses. You can also study for fellowship and PhD courses here. The college also offers hospice services for patients. Students are also exposed to community work here, in order to ensure their well rounded training.
