6. A Modern-Day Bard For The Queen
We all know that Queen Elizabeth-I was a major patron of Shakespeare. It would seem like that tradition has not died away because Queen Elizabeth II seems to be following suit in a way. She has her own personal poet who has been given the honorary position of poet laureate. This title is given to a person whose work is of “national significance.” Currently, Carol Ann Duffy has the honour of holding this privileged position.
